Key facts

A Step Above Medical is a hands-on clinical skills training provider offering short-format Phlebotomy Training and IV Therapy Training courses in cities across the United States, plus on-site Group Training for healthcare organizations. Classes are small and include supervised, hands-on practice.

Courses

Phlebotomy Training Course

Length:
2 days, 10 AM to 3 PM each day
Tuition:
$695 tuition ($750 for classes in California, Hawaii and Washington, D.C.). A $150 nonrefundable deposit reserves a seat; the remaining balance is paid on the first day of class, and the certificate is issued once tuition is paid in full.
Eligibility:
Students must be at least 18. No prior healthcare experience is required unless a class description says otherwise.
Good to know:
Includes live venipuncture practice under the instructor's direct supervision. May help prepare eligible students for certification examinations, including pathways offered by NHA or NPCT; examination registration and fees are separate.

IV Therapy Training Course

Length:
4 hours
Tuition:
$295 tuition, paid in full at registration.
Eligibility:
Students must be at least 18 and have foundational venipuncture skills. An instructor may restrict participation if a student lacks the skills needed to take part safely.
Good to know:
Live partner practice is optional; students may use training equipment instead. The course does not expand a participant's legal scope of practice or authorize medication administration.

Certificate

Students who complete all course requirements receive an A Step Above Medical Certificate of Completion. It confirms completion of the course; it is not a professional license or a state or national certification, and A Step Above Medical does not guarantee exam eligibility, certification, licensure or employment.

How registration works

  1. Choose a class and complete the registration form, including acceptance of the Terms & Conditions.
  2. Pay online (the $150 deposit or full tuition for Phlebotomy; full tuition for IV Therapy).
  3. Sign the Participation Agreement right away or from the emailed link. It must be signed before attending class.
  4. An optional photo and video release is sent by email. Declining it does not affect attendance or completion.

Transfers and refunds (summary)

  • Tuition and deposits are nonrefundable if a student changes their mind or cannot attend, but transfers may still apply with notice before the class begins.
  • Each registration includes one courtesy transfer to another available class for the same course, completed within six months of the original class date.
  • If A Step Above Medical cancels or reschedules a class, the student may choose a full refund of amounts paid, including any deposit, or a transfer.
  • A student who gives no notice before class begins is treated as a no-show and forfeits the registration and amounts paid.

Where classes are held

Classes are scheduled in 40 cities across 24 states and Washington, D.C. Exact venues are shared about one week before class. Current dates are on the class calendar.
